Topaz
- Found in many different colors and sizes, topaz is one of the
world's
most desired and sought after gems. Topaz is found in Brazil, Nigeria, Myanmar, Russia, Sri Lanka and the United States. Topaz is routinely treated to bring out its best color. When enhanced by heat, shades of brown, orange and yellow often change to pink. A wide variety of blue and green-blue can be created as well. Topaz is a hard gem that is quite resistant to scratching, but it can break or split if subject to hard blows or sudden changes in temperature. Topaz should not be cleaned in an ultrasonic machine. It is safe to use most commercial jewelry cleaner on topaz or you may choose to use soapy warm water and a brush. Rinse and thoroughly dry before wearing. Imperial or Golden Topaz is the November birthstone. |
